Getting Married?
Seriously wondering about all this wedding biz glamour? Starting to think its all just too muchness? …and how many bridesmaids are required to make it legal anyway!?
Stop! …and take a deep breath…
Because you don’t have to do any of it, except the parts you want of course.
Believe it or not, it is within your power to create the wedding of your dreams and not include the vast majority of that stuff normally associated with traditional weddings. You just need a little inspiration, a little guidance and the right celebrant!
If you are dreaming of an outdoor wedding, or an outdoor off the beaten path wedding, or an outdoor off the beaten path absolutely drenched in nature wedding, I may be able to help make that dream a reality.
I will stand outside in the pouring rain with you while you say your vows ( I don’t typically perform indoor weddings at all.)
I’m the wedding celebrant that doesn’t jive with the pomp and excess of the modern day wedding industry. It’s an industry blighted by wastefulness, insincerity and vanity. And an industry so focused on appearances that the deep meaningful rivers of love that flow between two hearts often goes unnoticed along the way.
It’s your wedding day, you get to choose what it should look like, not societies expectations, not a wedding planner, you! So take some quiet reflection time to connect with what is really important to you and your partner and plan a wedding day that truly reflects what is important to you.
“If you are dreaming of an outdoor wedding, or an outdoor off the beaten path wedding, or an outdoor off the beaten path absolutely drenched in nature wedding, I may be able to help make that dream a reality.”
Hello There
My name is Rachel (and the fella in the photo is my wonderful husband and partner in Celebrancy Frank).
I am a recently Certified Life-Cycle Celebrant™ and an ordained Metaphysical Minister who can legally perform weddings in BC. This year, in 2025, is my second year as a wedding officiant. I’m also a professional artist who is adventurous, heart-centred and creative and I infuse these traits into my work as a ceremonialist and officiant.
I specialize in crafting wedding ceremonies in nature. Ceremonies that celebrate your loving union in the most heartfelt way possible while also working with the elements of nature to create special altars and ceremonial spaces.
I’m a long time resident of the Cowichan Valley, though I was born and raised in the prairies. The beauty of this island is magnificent. I love the mystical and wild sandy west coast beaches most of all, they infuse my creative soul. The lush mossy rainforests with rich earthy aromas, fill me with reverence. And because I miss the great wide open skies I grew up with, hiking up to get a better view is something I will always look forward to.
Want to know if I am the right Celebrant for you?
Let’s meet up for a little exploration! No fee, and no obligation. I can come to you, or we can go for a walk, or meet at a coffee shop.
You can tell me what your vision is for your wedding and we can see where the path leads.
Personalized Ceremonies
When it’s time to begin working on your wedding ceremony I’ll start by getting to know your love story. How you met, what caused the sparks to fly, what do you love and cherish about one another. I’m going to ask a lot of questions but you’ll have time to think about them (and answering them will be the perfect inward journey for you both as you prepare for your wedding day) The more about you I learn the more you’ll love your ceremony!
I’ll take your stories and your wishs for your ceremony and weave them together using my creative artistry and ceremony training. Intuitively finding just the right mix of story, ritual, and nature. All elements of your ceremony will be approved by you and we will work together on it until you are utterly happy.
Taking care of the big stuff.
In Canada, weddings must be officiated by a legally authorized licensed officiant, religious representative, or marriage commissioner.
I’m ordained by the Canadian International Metaphysical Ministry. This organization focuses on the divine aspects of life including health, happiness, peace, spirituality and love.
This means that I have the honour to legally perform weddings anywhere in BC.
I will guide you through the process, handle all the paperwork, and submit your marriage license to make it official.
Wedding Altars
Creative, sacred, one of a kind.
As a constant creative and beauty maker one of my natural hobbies has been to create beautiful alters, shrines, and mandalas out of nature, in nature.
Saying your vows in space that feels personal and authentic is a really big part of creating loving, grounding, sacred energy within the space of your ceremony.
Most couples plan their alter with a designer, planner, or group of friends. Often it includes the rental of an archway, some draped fabric, and some floral accessories. The focus is on the right colours, but not necessarily on bringing together the elements that would feel most meaningful to the shared experiences and values of the couple.
It has been therefore a natural fit for me to offer my services in creating or co-creating altar spaces in the natural location where the wedding is to take place. If you are interested in having me create something special for your wedding we can talk about what that might look like and how much it would cost as an add on service to your ceremony.
Art
Commemorate your nature wedding with your very own commissioned piece of original art.
You’ve said your vows, and the beautiful place where it all happened will be forever dear to your heart. Yet you can’t stay there indefinitely, and you can’t take that beautiful landscape home with you. So why not get it painted and hang it above your couch!
I am also a professional fine artist who has been painting West Coast landscapes for the last 15 years. I set aside a limited number of wedding commission spaces per year. Using photographs taken of the landscape on the day of your wedding I can memorialize those special hours in a landscape painting created just for you (no people, just the view).
To visit my professional art website click on the button below. If you are interested in a wedding art commission just let me know in person.
My services can include any or all of the following elements:
A Legalized Wedding held outdoors in any natural location, be it a private garden, a local beach, forest or mountain lookout…
A personalized hand written ceremony which shares about your love story. This ceremony may include rituals such as hand fasting, oathing stone or tree planting.
Travel to an unusual ceremony location in Nature, anywhere in BC.
Creation of an altar, mandala, or ceremonial space using mostly items found in nature.
Facilitation of a community created ceremonial altar, in which all members and guests of the wedding party are invited to participate.
The creation of a fine art landscape painting of the view or scene of your wedding ceremony location.
