About Us
About us?
Well, first of all, it’s not about us…. One of the principles that sets Life Cycle Celebrants apart is our “stand to the side approach” (Photographers love this approach! Do you really want your celebrant in all of the photos of your special day?) . It is your day. We’re just here to help you realize your vision, not photo bomb your ceremony or give your love permission. Of course, we all want to make sure we’re a good fit, so here’s a little bit about who we are…
Frank
Frank is a funerals celebrant who loves serving his community and connecting with people and nature through his photography, in community gatherings, and in men's circles. His previous experience in music, theatre and event organizing have proved valuable in creating ceremonies for all of life's major transitions.
Rachel
Otherwise known as “Rachel the Rainforest Reverend” is an ordained weddings celebrant. Rachel has a passion for nature based ceremonies and altars with a particular interest in officiating weddings in wild places. She is also a fine artist of classic west coast landscape paintings through her studio at Wildside Nature Studio.
Together
We are a married couple with children living in the Cowichan Valley on Vancouver Island devoted to growing our own food, spending time in the wilderness, living conscientiously, ceremony, meditation and personal growth all while raising orphaned farm animals such as sheep, ducks, chickens, goats and cats. We love our community and are grateful to live in such a beautiful and creative place.
We respectfully recognize our place as settlers on the stolen Indigenous lands of the Qu’wutsun’, Coast Salish peoples. As guests on this land we offer deep respect, and gratitude to the indigenous spirits, ancestors and peoples of these lands. May our reverence be enacted through right relationship with the land and its rightful stewards and traditional keepers. With the Earth and Waters, with all living entities and with the spirit guardians of this place.
